Fear not Tumblr, I have not run off into the sunset. Life has merely been keeping me busy. I figured I’d make up for it by showing you the ribeye steak that I made with a baked sweet potato and sautéed garlic spinach.
And also, again fear not, I have been consistently going to CrossFit, too. And loving it still to this day.
I am getting better and better at my steak making game. Thanks to tips from The Meat Rack on how to make and also how to find a good cut of meat and where.
For this bad boy, I simply rubbed some coco oil on it and seasoned it with Trader Joe’s 21 Salute and some ground cumin (of course). Heat the pan (no oil) until it is very hot, then cook steak about 3-4 minutes per side. Mine came out medium and delicious. Happy meat hunting.
Bistec Encebollado
I’m just going to get right into this meaty goodness.
Beef stew strips marinaded in red wine vinegar, cumin and Thai seasoning blend (salt-free), green heirloom tomato, white onion, then all made in a small dollop of coco oil. A side of asparagus made in my own lemon (pastured) butter sauce. Side of the Primal Biscuit leftovers I had.
After a rough and long day of work, this was very much needed. Delicious bacon-wrapped scrumptious steak.
The Meat Rack would be proud. I’m stepping up my steak making game.
Just what I needed after a very eye-twitching, shitastic, stressful day. A juicy boneless ribeye steak. Many thanks to The Meat Rack for pointers on making a damn good steak. It is actually not too often that I make a steak (they’re usually made for me buahaha), so I’m still learning techniques. I must say this was a damn good one.
I rubbed the steak with TJ’s 21 Salute, ground cumin (I’m telling you, I love the stuff), and creole seasoning. Let it sit for about 15 minutes, then rubbed coconut oil all over it. Heated my pan on high, let pan heat up, then throw steak on there. Cook each side for about 3-4 minutes for a medium to medium-rare finish. MOUTH WATERING.
Those tiny side dishes are a baked plantain and sliced tomatoes.
I need to do a tribute to meat heaven. And I will do just that in an upcoming post.
But THIS is my steak from tonight. Had a chance to cook this boneless rib eye tenderized steak. I rubbed it with an Arizona chipotle seasoning and some pepper. And that’s a side of sautéed tomatoes, spinach with garlic.
Yummy medium rare goodness.
Lunch Nom
Cha Cha Chicken (Cuban restaurant in Santa Monica), and had some Ropa Vieja and although I requested no rice or beans they still gave it to me. Bah. Worked around it, don’t they know I’m on a time limit! I know, such a brat.
Last night’s delicious dinner courtesy of my favorite neighbor. The man loves to grill, and does it well. As a side note, I want to get back to being better at posting my meals again.
Nuked sweet potato with bit of kerrygold butter and steak strips. This was yummy but I need to lay off the sweet potatoes a bit. I flock to them because they’re easy to nuke and travel well, but they’re a fairly starchy root that I should probably only have post WOD.
Post WOD nomming of couple eggs, steak, spinach and a dollop of avocado. My version of steak and eggs was delicious.
On an important note, I’m having major anxiety feelings and eye twitching because my dear grandma is in the hospital. She is a strong trooper but I still worry specially because she is 91.
I love meat.
Carne asada style steak with avocado slices and sauteed spinach with garlic. Oh, and some Shiraz two buck chuck!
Que delicioso!

Ah, my people’s food is so yummy. This is “Bisteck Montado”, flat skirt steak, topped with a fried egg, plantains, and I replaced the rice with quinoa (which is actually a fruit and not a grain).
Mmmmmm……meat.
Z Steak Salad: Filet mignon, goat cheese, cubed mango bits, walnuts, over a bed of greens. Meaty goodness.
Dinner Nom
Flat skirt steak with grilled onions (courtesy of mama’s leftovers) and a “baked” sweet potato (nuked sweet potato). This is my I’m-kind-of-sick-so-I-don’t-want-to-cook meal. I had a throat demon, fought it successfully, and then everyone around me is coughing up their lungs so of course the bug came back to me again.
Day 1 - Dinner Nom
At El Criollo Cuban Restaurant in Culver City, CA I had the Bistec Encebollado aka flat skirt steak in a red wine vinegar reduction topped with grilled onions and a side salad of romaine, tomatoes and onions with lemon juice sprinkled. I also had a couple of plantain slices….satisfied girl right here!
