For the love of meat.
I am getting better and better at my steak making game. Thanks to tips from The Meat Rack on how to make and also how to find a good cut of meat and where.
For this bad boy, I simply rubbed some coco oil on it and seasoned it with Trader Joe’s 21 Salute and some ground cumin (of course). Heat the pan (no oil) until it is very hot, then cook steak about 3-4 minutes per side. Mine came out medium and delicious. Happy meat hunting.
After a rough and long day of work, this was very much needed. Delicious bacon-wrapped scrumptious steak.
The Meat Rack would be proud. I’m stepping up my steak making game.
Last night i had some Leftover Burger patties i made from scratch. 80/20 ground beef, garlic, worcestershire sauce, a mushroom balsamic vinagraitte dressing, and a splash of FISH SAUCE…yup, the secret to amazing burger patties.
Couldn’t find any decently sized romaine so grilled up some onions, fried an egg, threw in some avocado, and Fork-and-knifed it up.
These kind of concoctions is a big reason why I love my b.f.f. And why you should follow his meaty ways.
Just what I needed after a very eye-twitching, shitastic, stressful day. A juicy boneless ribeye steak. Many thanks to The Meat Rack for pointers on making a damn good steak. It is actually not too often that I make a steak (they’re usually made for me buahaha), so I’m still learning techniques. I must say this was a damn good one.
I rubbed the steak with TJ’s 21 Salute, ground cumin (I’m telling you, I love the stuff), and creole seasoning. Let it sit for about 15 minutes, then rubbed coconut oil all over it. Heated my pan on high, let pan heat up, then throw steak on there. Cook each side for about 3-4 minutes for a medium to medium-rare finish. MOUTH WATERING.
Those tiny side dishes are a baked plantain and sliced tomatoes.
Hello fellow Fitblrs. This is me in a onesie, hugging meat. One of my best friend’s and fellow meat lovers, Chris, got me a chest full of of meat for Christmas. Does he know me or does he know me!
He also has started a tumblr. A meat tumblr.
If you are one with meat like we are, go follow The Meat Rack.
What do you give your fellow meat lover, @myquirkylife for Christmas? A chest full of meat!
I need to do a tribute to meat heaven. And I will do just that in an upcoming post.
But THIS is my steak from tonight. Had a chance to cook this boneless rib eye tenderized steak. I rubbed it with an Arizona chipotle seasoning and some pepper. And that’s a side of sautéed tomatoes, spinach with garlic.
Yummy medium rare goodness.
Really can’t go wrong with avocado and meat. A lovely primal marriage in my quirky book!
Meaty lunch for the win.
Got my protein in via Bulgogi (steak pieces topped with grilled onions) and a side salad and orange slice. Delicioso.
Slowly But Surely
Makes me happy to see that more and more regular grocery stores like Albertsons, Ralphs, Vons, and now even Target, are carrying more and more healthier products such as Cage Free Eggs, Grass-Fed meat, Free Range Chicken, wild fish, etc. Slowly but surely, the mainstream world is realizing what is really right for our bodies. Yay!
Dinner Nom
Last night’s dinner. My mom can be so sweet with her little care packages. This is filet mignon she had sliced up and put in a baggie for me to cook when I got home after I was pouting because I hadn’t eaten dinner yet from dealing with all the car stuff. So I seasoned it with cumin, onion powder and red pepper paste (Peruvian Panca Pepper) and pan-grilled it covered in bit of ghee. Threw it over a bed of spinach, avocado, and feta cheese. Yum.
For the Paleo/Primal nerds of Tumblr :)
Just had to.
05.10.10 Quality Meats

I have lagged on updating my daily totals with you fine folk but it has been a very very busy weekend for me. Long story short, I behaved entirely except for a couple beers I indulged in but that’s as bad as it got. I just didn’t want to clog your dashboards tonight with numerous updates.
Very primal breakfast of eggs, bacon, spinach and bit of Kerrygold Aged Cheddar sprinkled on top. And of course, my coffee.
Mom had made spaghetti but she was sweet enough to not combine the ground turkey/Mushroom Wine Sauce and noodles prior to me getting there. So she gave me ground turkey mixed in with the sauce and gave my sister the spaghetti with it all.
Per usual, fitness calculations are just an estimate, a fairly low estimate I might say. I know I burned far more than that.
Dinner was super primal and amazeballs. Went to a Japanese BBQ place called Gyu-Kaku. You order different meats already marinaded that come in small plates that you grill yourself on the grill in the table (charcoal grill). We shared fillet mignon, Kobe beef skirt steak, garlic shrimp, veggies and chicken tenders. Absolutely delicious. What I love about most authentic Japanese food, is that you rarely ever get that gross food-coma feeling, you just feel good and satisfied.
Wowza! Look at that protein! I was in total carnivore mode today! All else looks pretty proper too, woo!
