120213 - Overhanging
Skill: bear complex practice. Grr. I like all of this, except the part going from back squat and bringing it back forward. It hurts my shoulder soooo much. And I barely ever have shoulder pain. And it only hurts that way, doesn’t hurt bringing it down to back squat.

My knee has been acting up again so this wod was hard on my gimpy knee but I am glad I got to finish in decent time. I went down in weight bc my first round felt off and wobbly. Not that it was too heavy but more so that my form didn’t feel right. Better to have good form. Took me a while to surrender to that.
120118 - An RX Kind of Day
Even without knowing the WOD, I wore this shirt yesterday morning that I bought at the OC Throwdown from Life as RX - may I just add that it’s super comfortable.

Hardest part was pushing through those push ups and the last set of abmat situps! Hands still a bit delicate since the tear two-timing, but I love bodyweight WOD’s!

Took me way too long to get legit CrossFit appropriate shoes…over a year too long.

Ring Dips
Time: 14:28 @ 65# and red (small band) for ring dips
First of all, I whimpered because I had just done a gazillion squats AND ring dips on Wednesday night at LAX CrossFit, and was sore from that already. And like I promised myself, I went for the red band this time around and it worked out great. Can’t wait until i get a strict ring dip. But I did it again, i doubted myself with the weight on my bar. I had 75# on my bar, and at the last minute doubted myself and downgraded to 65#. Ugh.

120104 - An LAX CrossFit Kind of WOD
Tonight, after months of meaning to, I was finally able to drop into LAX CrossFit (roommate Dan is part owner). I didn’t know what to expect because as hard as it is to believe, I have never been to a different CrossFit box (not counting when I was shopping different boxes almost two years ago). Overall it was great! Some different pre-movements than I’m used to but other than that it was good old, hardcore skills I’m used to.

(scale muscle ups with 36 rings & 36 ring dips - distribute ring work as you want)

Looking back, I might have been able to power through with a red band - noted for next time!

That happened! Only a little. And I didn’t tell anybody during the WOD. And just kept on truckin’. I don’t know what did it. I don’t usually eat before 6am class because I’m not hungry at all at 530am. But during the brutal WOD I got dizzy and lightheaded.

Because of time, WOD was capped at 20 minutes. Most of us have work after and have to be out the door right after class.
3 rounds + 12 pull-ups, 12 box jumps. Didn’t get to the run for fourth round. The running did me dirty. That’s when I got the dizziest. 7 rounds would’ve taken me like 30 minutes haha, damn it!
I Have a Disease Called Self-Doubtisimation
My disease acts up often in the box. Creeps its ugly head. I try to kick it away but sometimes it will linger. It’s a lurker in the shadows.
Didn’t PR on my kipping even though I’ve been practicing? Two minutes slower than the person I was trying to chase? Not thinking that I can lift the RX weight in WOD? Angry that I couldn’t string more than 5 double-unders during a WOD? Being upset that I’m doing one pushup at a time toward the end of a WOD? Frustrated that my legs feel like lead during box jumps at some points?
All these thoughts, and many more, are symptoms of my Self-Doubtisimation. I’m hard on myself in the box all the time. I get angry at myself for not doing better. I get upset for doing a lighter weight during a WOD, then realizing afterward that I definitely could have done more, maybe even RX’d it. It’s a problem I need to work on. I need to believe in myself more. Koach tells me I’m stronger than I think I am.
No one’s going to love me any less. There will always be speed bumps. And I’m not alone.

“Big Cindy” WOD - AMRAP 20 Minutes

1 mi run…I did 1/2 mi because 1) calf got very tight (hence the picture of me rolling it out at work) and 2) out of time, had to get ready for work!
Overall I am happy with my rounds and the fact that I RX’d it!
Cookies taste good but they make you feel nasty, so keep your body happy through exercise.
The Torrid Affair
I have this indiscreet love affair going on.
It is dysfunctional to some, but it just works. Some might disagree with my choice, but I brush their comments aside and follow my heart. There are times when life obligations makes it hard to see each other. I understand it can take sacrifices. Try so hard to get that full hour. Some may not appreciate the scars, the battle wounds. Or the surroundings defaced by white chalk. The cold, hard surroundings. Feeling the need to demonstrate what I’ve learned from this affair in public places. But, I love the unabashed hard work that goes into this.
At times, leaves me gasping for air. Fighting until I feel I can’t fight anymore. Pushing myself to get through just another minute. Yet, in the end, it is worth every single minute.
I know others that have a similar affair going on. And I completely understand and feel a connection to them. Even when I encounter someone from a different city or area with the same kind of relationship, we shake hands, and then we knowingly nod at each other. Might even begin talking about it. Share stories. Share bruises. Share scars. Show our hands. Go over how the outside world sees us. The inside jokes and lingo that many simply don’t understand. It is a kindred connection.

111118 - 20 MIN AMRAP
6 a.m. is getting much easier to get used to nowadays. And I’m so happy I get to do full warm up (as opposed to being late) and strength / skill and WOD. What’s a burpee pull you ask? The video above shows what a “burpee pullup” is.

6 rounds and scaled using 125# for deadlifts and 5 burpee pullups per round. If I had done the 10 burpee pullups I probably would’ve gotten around 4 rounds, but scaled because I’m new to them, didn’t know how I’d do. I owned those crossovers (criss cross jump roping). Did them all UNBROKEN.
