111118 - 20 MIN AMRAP

6 a.m. is getting much easier to get used to nowadays. And I’m so happy I get to do full warm up (as opposed to being late) and strength / skill and WOD. What’s a burpee pull you ask? The video above shows what a “burpee pullup” is.


WOD - 20 Min AMRAP

20 min AMRAP
10 Burpee Pullups
15 Dead Lift (185/135)
20 Crossovers

6 rounds and scaled using 125# for deadlifts and 5 burpee pullups per round. If I had done the 10 burpee pullups I probably would’ve gotten around 4 rounds, but scaled because I’m new to them, didn’t know how I’d do. I owned those crossovers (criss cross jump roping). Did them all UNBROKEN.

Barbells for Boobs at CrossFit 310

This event was close to my heart because my grandma is a breast cancer survivor and still such a sassy lady at age 91. And because I love boobies of course.

The event came together SO well! So proud of Coach Kris and the team (Smalls, Money, Rebecca and anyone else I may have missed!) that helped put it all into fruition. Wish I could’ve taken a part of the planning. I miss being part of the crew for planning.

Onto the event. Clearly, there was pink everywhere. All of our plates were pink rimmed, most of us put pink under our eyes, and I, of course, sported pink / black knee socks. I decided to go for 75lbs (it being 20lbs above my last Grace). Started out great, then it got exhausting, and my counter, Brittany, bless her heart, suggested maybe I bounce it off my thighs to help as people do - something I had never done. This was roughly my 10th rep. Attempted to go off my thigh.

RIPPPPP. Gnarly tear in the crease in between my thumb and index finger. But I had to keep going. Every single rep after that hurt my hand like a bitch. I wasn’t even half way when I got that tear.

I didn’t have a problem cleaning that weight, but I did have issue jerking (that’s what she said) that weight above my head when I was exhausted. I got a couple no-reps. So disappointed in myself. My last few reps actually had the best form, because I had to focus like no other. And I took it one rep at a time. There was a 10 minute cap and my final time was 7:56. I am glad I finished. The only thing worse than the time I got would have been getting a DNF.
