05.31.10 Happy Memorial Day Folks
Not a good day in my primal life! But life happens, right? So, I woke up, did a few push-ups to “grease the groove” and then had some coffee at home.
Following that was time for brunch at my friends house with the ladies. I kept it primal except for the “French Toast Souffle” (from Cooking Light recipes) and mimosas she made! The souffle alone held half of my daily...

CrossFit 100531 Memorial Day WOD
After this long weekend of not the greatest eating and not to mention a hurt back, I was in need of sweating bullets. I also had to keep my back injury in mind. Granted, like a good girl, I have been icing my back the past 3 days, twice a day, and stretching and it is feeling much better. I only feel slight discomfort when sitting or standing at certain angles now.

Primal Bison Chili
I had been casually looking up primal chili recipes for a few weeks now and have had ground bison in my freezer for a couple months now and somehow always forget about it when deciding on a dinner choice! After lounging around on a lazy Sunday, I decided I was going to try it finally! Now please don’t fear the ingredient list length, it is 90% seasonings (mostly essential seasonings that...

RELAX! Go Ahead and Eat That Burger...No Wait...
muscled1:
My clients usually look at me like I have two heads the first time I say this to them - Enjoy life! Have a slice of birthday cake and treat yourself to a burger every now and then.
I tell them this because when you deny yourself all of life’s indulgences you will set yourself up for weight loss failure. Just be smart about it: have a small piece of the cake and fore-go fries with that...
mr365 asked: this might sound odd - but is alcohol/beer "primal"?

Routine
I don’t always have a way with words. I sometimes have trouble expressing what is going on in my mind because my mind literally is going a thousand thoughts per second. I have trouble organizing my thoughts and how I want to express them. Because I perhaps never got to my exact point in my previous post, I wanted to follow up with this:
As you continue the Primal transition, you’ll likely...

Drinks, Food, Plateau, Birthdays, Scale, Body, Oh...
This weekend has not been the best in staying on track terms. I don’t regret my choices because I have had fun, but I have thought back and reflected as to why I made those choices in the first place.
I’ve been in plateau limbo for about 3, almost 4 weeks now. Ranging up and down in a 3-4lb range and it is extremely frustrating. I know weight loss slows down a lot when you get to...
Personally I can’t wait until birthday season is over come mid-June…the festivities have all sorts of foods (in which I somewhat behave) and plus my pockets can’t take it anymore too.

Well that was a lot of drinking in one night…and something I haven’t done in a long long long time. And went to eat late after drinking and I behaved??? What? That’s a new leaf turned since my old days of drinking! I had a chicken breast, side salad, fruit and picked at some sweet potato fries.
Well done. Well, minus the drinking part.

Hurt my lower back doing one arm kettle swings during the WOD, crap. Have to ice it tonight mandatory trainer orders.
Edit: toward the end of the WOD I was getting super tired and started losing my form, back rounded, my fault.

Things My Roommate Says

Him: You DO look like a lady you know....until you open your mouth and start talking.

I want to do it and have found a crossfit affiliate near me, but I'm worried/embarrassed about how out of shape I am.

05.27.10 An Odd Ball Dinner
I tried Trader Joe’s Smoked Apple Chardonnay Chicken Sausage with my eggs today, and it was just okay, sadly. I think my expectations were too high. I’ll try it in a different way next time.
Mum made me some delicious beef pot roast for lunch (at least I THINK it was pot roast…it’s what it looked like, and my mom didn’t know, and she told me to quit asking her)....

05.25.10 Upping the Fat/Calories...Kind Of
Quite the primal breakfast of an omelet, avocado and my coffee. Well, please keep in mind, I am a somewhat modified primal eater because I do have little dairy (the heavy whipping cream in my coffee and the occasional quality cheese - goat milk/cheese is not dairy). I’ll go into the details of all this in a later post.
Per usual mother hooked it up with a proper healthy and primal lunch...

Old Me vs New Me
I will be using the reference of “one year ago” although this stands for even just 5 months ago
One year ago I would not have hesitated to share chili cheese fries with a friend
Today I try to check out the restaurants menu before going to it to know in advance what healthy/healthier options they offer
One year ago I would have pounded beer after beer during Dollar Beers at the...

Tumblr Tuesday
FOr this lovely Tumblr Tuesday I am recommending Not Just Healthy. She is doing this health and fitness thing the right way and I like her food pictures, they’re pretty! If you’re not yet following her, do so now!
Clearly, I have a lot of favorites and it saddens me that Tumblr Tuesday only allows one recommendation. You can always go to my blog and I have some listed on the right...

05.24.10 Going To Be a Fishy Week
A delicious spinach and plantain omelet was had in the a.m.! I can explain the bacon grease. Okay, so I was making bacon originally last night as I usually do, and then I got caught up watching a television show and forgot about it! Needless to say my bacon was way too burned to eat, and didn’t want to make another batch. So I just used a little bit of the grease to make my eggs in. Nom...

Fresh Ceviche & an Avocado, Tomato and Goat Cheese...
In between coming home to change into gym attire and heading out to CrossFit 310 I was thinking about what I’ll be having for dinner. I already was planning to use more of the Wild Alaskan Cod I had left (it was a pretty big package). And it clicked, something I could leave marinading (or in this case “cooking”) while I went to train! And I knew just what to do considering I had...

Why I CrossFit
It is very fun! I love it, because it is always different! There are the fundamental movements but in the end every WOD is different in some way because there is always the next goal within them. Whether that goal is move up in amount of weights you use, raise the number of kettle bell you swing, up the intensity on your pull-ups or push-ups and much more. If you thought it was easy, then you...

05.23.10 I Almost Flew Away
Met up with a friend and we had breakfast right by the beach and I had yummy omelet that I posted about earlier. The beach, my goodness it was SUPER windy! We played a little bit of volleyball but it was pointless, the ball kept flying away! So i didn’t count that toward my fitness totals really.
I had the house to myself for the entire day since the roomies were at base and it was...

Grilled Bacon-Wrapped Wild Alaskan Cod with...
and an onion and tomato salad (that was marinaded in raw lemon juice for a couple hours)
I FINALLY had time to prep my iron skillet today (since it wasn’t pre-seasoned) and I clearly didn’t waste any time in putting it to use! I had defrosted the Wild Alaskan Cod I had bought a few weeks ago on sale last night and really wasn’t sure how I was going to make it. So I browsed one...

05.22.10 Warning: I Had Bread!
Per usual, I met up with my sister at Starbucks to chat about life (with my 3 egg omelet & avocado in tupperware). The baristas there know us already and are used to me bringing my breakfast but I always order coffee so they don’t mind at all. And I’ve been experimenting with different coffee strengths with the barista, glad he is patient with me. Today I tried a Pike Place...

Ask and You Shall Receive
As you all know I meet with my sister and best friend almost every Saturday morning at Starbucks. I bring my eggs (sometimes with bacon) in a Tupperware.
Well I always get a grande drip with room for cream, and my best bet has usually been to use half and half (primally speaking) but today I decided to ask the barista if they carry heavy whipping cream, and what do you know? They do but they...
